Fixed term based on the needs of the child (32hrs per week), Teaching Assistant SEN 1:1 Support

Required as soon as possible 

PCD7 (£24,294 annual wage £12.59/hr – term time only)

A unique opportunity has arisen whereby we are looking to appoint a dedicated and professional SEND Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible. You will work as part of the Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND) team to support those children with specific needs. You will need to be able to demonstrate an excellent level of understanding of children will specific needs and how they can be best supported to ensure they thrive in mainstream education.

•    Work in partnership with colleagues and external agencies to promote a creative and stimulating learning environment 
•    Provide and deliver learning activities for individuals and groups of pupils under the professional direction and supervision of a qualified teacher, differentiating and adapting learning to suit the needs of allocated pupils 
•    Respond to the needs of pupils and adapt approaches as required

The successful candidates will use a variety of strategies to support and engage our pupils and will be an important member of our team, working closely with the SENDCO, class teachers and school leadership. Candidates will be expected to be proactive and bring a positive approach to work, whilst a commitment to the wider life of the school is also important.

Within this role, you will provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with complex and specific needs in Key Stage 1.

 You will also assist the teaching staff in the preparation of the learning environment, liaising with parents, maintaining pupil records, and carrying out a range of administrative tasks to support the teaching staff. Good experience of working with children and relevant qualifications are required.

The school offers an exciting and enriched curriculum through a wide range of activities, both within the classroom but also through the wider environment. Whilst your primary focus will be on supporting individual children to be able to access this curriculum to ensure that they make excellent progress. This will involve you working with teachers and the SENDCo to adapt the curriculum the broad and balanced curriculum offer to meet the individual needs including the teaching of reading, involvement in PE sessions, going on school trips and residentials. We provide a full programme of extra-curricular activities, outdoor learning programmes and sporting opportunities.

You will also be involved in leading playtime activities with children and supporting within the hall during dinner times.

This position is fixed term (based on the needs of the specific child). The hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am to 3.30pm each day.
