Temporary Part Time Senior Teaching Assistant/Mid Day Supervisor

Senior Teaching Assistant PCD 7 £26421 pro rata Mid day supervisor PCD 3 £23151 pro-rata (including living wage supplement) 

Required from 1 September 2024 until 31.8.25 unless postholder returns earlier.

The Head Teacher and Governors of Thursby Primary school wish to appoint an excellent senior teaching assistant/ midday supervisor to join their happy and thriving team within the village community of Thursby, on the outskirts of Carlisle.

This post is temporary and will be working every day, hours as below, to provide maternity cover for existing post holder. The post also includes the role of Mid Day Supervisor on a temporary basis (5 hours per week)

The hours will be 8.45-12.00 Temporary Senior Teaching Assistant (16.25 hours per week) until 31 August 2025 unless postholder returns earlier.

12-1 temporary Mid- Day Supervisor (5 hours per week) until 31.August 2025 unless postholder returns earlier.

1.30-3.30  Temporary Senior Teaching Assistant (10.00 hours per week) until 31 August 2025 unless postholder returns earlier.

The Senior Teaching Assistant post is for across the whole school, but will be predominantly in key stage 2. 

Applications are welcome from both experienced and recently qualified senior teaching assistants.

The successful candidate will be:

  • an enthusiastic, resilient and creative teaching assistant with experience of providing highly effective support for pupils’ learning, effective teacher liaison and good classroom management
  • experienced in working with pupils across the whole school
  • experience of the ELSA support program or similar
  • experience in supporting pupils with wellbeing and mental health issues and experienced in delivering targeted interventions.
  • able to work flexibly as part of a dedicated staff team with high expectations in our small, family friendly, rural school
  • confident to share and develop their own skills and experience further through internal/external CPD
