Headteacher

Full Time Headteacher (with a minimum 0.7 teaching commitment)
Start Date: 1st September 2024

Where everybody is somebody.

Due to the retirement of our long standing Headteacher, the governors of our well-supported school would like to appoint a dynamic Headteacher who will share our whole school vision.

Allonby Primary School is situated in a small coastal village, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with magnificent views over the Solway towards Criffel. We seek to appoint a passionate Headteacher to continue to promote high standards of learning as well as continuing to develop the curriculum which nurtures the whole child. We work harmoniously with the community and we maximise the use of our local area and surroundings, extending the learning beyond the classroom.

Allonby Primary School is proud of its out of school activities as well as its strong links with the consortium of local small schools. In 2018, we were rated as ‘good’ by Ofsted. They reported:

• ‘Within the small and close-knit school community, there is an overarching ethos of kindness, consideration and compassion.’
• ‘Pupils feel valued, listened to and treated as individuals.’
• ‘Teachers set challenging work for pupils that allows them to build effectively on what they have already learned.’

We would like to hear from you if you will:
• foster strong relationships with the whole school community;
• be an approachable, collaborative and inspirational leader; and
• lead by example as an outstanding classroom practitioner.

Our pupils have told us that they would like a Headteacher who:
• has a good sense of humour and is never grumpy;
• has lots of energy and makes learning fun;
• is caring and approachable

We can offer you:
• a dedicated, skilled, mutually supportive staff team committed to care for and develop each child;
• a welcoming school with joyful, enthusiastic children who are keen to learn and are supported by their parents and governors; and
• our support in your continued professional development.

If you would like to discover more, we would encourage you to visit our school Monday 15 January 2023. Please contact Megan White on 01900 881324 or e-mail admin@allonby.cumbria.sch.uk to arrange.
