Find out what a renewal of vows ceremony involves and how to arrange one.
Our renewal of vows ceremony is a wonderful way of celebrating a special anniversary of the date of your marriage or civil partnership. A renewal of vows ceremony is also a good opportunity for you to celebrate with family and friends if you were married abroad and you want to celebrate with people who were unable travel to the ceremony.
When deciding what you ceremony will be like, you will work with one of our expert ceremony staff to select from the options available, and tailor a ceremony that will be special for you and your family. Every ceremony is different, so you can create something unique for you to remember and treasure.
Neither the renewal of vows ceremony nor any other document issued following the ceremony has any legal status. The ceremony will be a civil ceremony and cannot be of a religious nature.
Venues that hold current fire and safety regulations and public liability insurance are suitable to hold a renewal of vows ceremony. Please note however that private homes are not considered suitable.
You can also choose from any of our register offices or any of the various approved premises in Cumbria. These are excellent locations for renewal of vows ceremonies as these premises are experienced at holding such events.
It is also possible to conduct renewal of vows ceremonies in some lakeside outdoor locations.
If you wish to discuss the suitability of a particular location please contact the registration service.
