About Parkside

Parkside is a comfortable, homely and safe environment which provides 24 hour residential care for the elderly frail. The home is located close to Maryport town centre and is adjacent to a park area and local church.

Parkside comprises of three separate units, two of which provides specialist care for people living with dementia. Each unit has its own lounge with television, dining area and kitchenette. There is a 40's themed sitting room for residents to enjoy and an enclosed garden patio area to the back of the home which provides a safe environment for the residents to enjoy.

Parkside have experienced and qualified staff that prides themselves on delivering high quality care for our residents. Staff have an understanding of person-centered care and the complex care needs of residents living with dementia.

Activities

At Parkside we aim to provide a range of activities which benefit both the physical and mental health of residents which include:

• reminiscence sessions Down Memory Lane
• music for health
• in-house activity sessions, with an objective to promote health and wellbeing
• game boards, dominos, card games and craft session
• residents can enjoy the services of a hairdresser every week
• staff, relatives and friends bring in pets for residents to enjoy
• alpaca visits
• armchair exercises with Kiddley Divey
• regular local entertainers and music
• trips to places of local interest
• outings to the local supermarket
• musicals and panto sessions with Northeast Productions
• themed entertainment
• the enclosed garden provides an area for gardening with raised beds, seating and tables
• visits from the local churches on request

Our team

Parkside has a dedicated and experienced team of staff who pride themselves on supporting residents' care needs. The team provide person-centred care to all residents and ensure that each resident is treated with dignity and respect. The home and staff provide a warm and friendly place to live.

Food

Parkside cooks have a range of experience and qualifications in catering for the elderly and individual specialist diets to meet the needs of the service users.

We provide a range of nutritional homemade meals using fresh ingredients and freshly baked cakes on a daily basis.

Parkside invites residents to participate in the menu planner through regular residents meetings. Residents are offered drinks, snacks and fresh fruit throughout the day and night. The kitchen at Parkside has a five star rating from environmental health. As well as the homemade food, our residents also enjoy fish and chip suppers ordered in from the local takeaway.
