The different types of roles
When you join our team you have the potential to work in a range of different services.
Residential care
Residential care provides accommodation, nutritious meals, varied leisure activities, personal care and emotional support for older adults around the clock and seven days a week in safe and comfortable residential homes.
As a Residential Support Worker, you will provide support and care to residents, helping make sure they are safe, well and enjoy a good quality of life. You will have the opportunity to get to know the residents well, support them to stay in touch with their families as well as helping them to enjoy lots of different activities with care that meets their needs.
You can join our teams working in specialised services for people with a wide range of needs including providing caring and secure dementia support or help to promote independence for adults living in a supported environment with other adults with physical and/or learning disabilities.
Support at home
Support at Home helps people in their own homes through our reablement service or for longer term support.
Reablement is about helping people to get back on their feet and regain their skills, perhaps after a period of illness.
Reablement Support Workers focus on what people can do, building on those skills and helping people to achieve their goals, whether that is being able to cook a meal for themselves or stay active in their homes and to go out. You will work one to one on a short term basis with an individual in their home, supporting them to build their confidence and independence.
You will quickly build relationships and trust with the individuals and their families, supporting and celebrating them as they achieve their goals. Reablement helps individuals live the life they want and to remain in their own homes and community.
As a Domiciliary Support Worker you will be support people and promote their independence, helping them to stay in their home while receiving longer term care with their families and community around them.
Supported living
Supported living helps vulnerable adults, including people with learning disabilities, to live independently in their own homes in the community. Each person is an individual and so the help they will need will differ, but may include providing personal care, support with household tasks and helping people to enjoy the things they are interested in - spending time with family and friends, attending education or work and taking part in hobbies.
As a Support Worker you will help these individuals develop their independence, building their skills and assist them to play an active role in their communities. You will encourage individuals to have their say and choose how they wish to live their lives.
Day Services (Older Adults, Learning Disability and Mental Health)
Day services provide support for people during the day, either in buildings or the community. We provide day opportunities for older adults and for adults with a physical and/or learning disability.
As a Day Service Support Worker you will help to create a friendly, safe and interesting place to be for the people attending. You will support individuals to take part in activities, socialise and do the things they are interested in whilst building their skills and independence.
Extra Care Housing
Extra Care Housing provides support to people living within an assisted living community. As a Extra Care Housing Support Worker you will provide support to people to help them maintain independence as well as being available in case
People who need some support and want help to be nearby if they need it can move into assisted accommodation, care is provided according to the person's needs. Everyone has their own home environment.
Shared Lives
Shared Lives is different to traditional care models, it can be likened to fostering for adults. Our teams recruit and support people who offer care in their own home to a vulnerable adult in return for a regular fee. It's a great way to provide care, giving a route to a really independent life for people who might otherwise be in some form of residential care. You will be supported by our team and provided with training to help you provide high-quality support.
Community Equipment Service
The Community Equipment Service helps people to stay in their own homes by providing equipment on loan such as beds and hoists. Technicians deliver, maintain and collect the equipment across Cumbria and you must be friendly, be able to communicate well with people as well as being happy to get out and about at work every day.
Domestic (cleaning) roles
Working as a domestic is always an important role but now more so than ever. We are looking for motivated and hardworking people to join our team to help provide a safe and comfortable place to live for our residents.
As a Domestic you would organise and complete all cleaning duties, knowledge of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) and infection control is useful but full training will be provided. Friendliness is essential as you will join the wider care and support team and interact with residents on a regular basis.
Cooks
Food is important to all of us, particularly as we get older it becomes even more important the food we eat meets our needs. As an experienced cook you will have the skills and experience to create nutritious and enticing meals and snacks for residents.
You will be supporting the day to day running of the kitchen and develop and adapt meal plans as you meet the dietary needs of every resident. You will join the wider kitchen and care team and also interact with residents.

From administration to quality assurance, there are a wide range of roles which support the smooth running of all our services and ensure people using our services have the best possible experience. Each one puts the needs of the people using the services first and joins a wider team that are really proud of the incredible care and support provided.
