Cumberland Council is pleased to announce the completion of a resurfacing project in the charming village known as The Hill, in southern Cumbria, near Millom.
Over £35,000 was invested by the council to ensure the success of this initiative, which was completed in just four days. This project included the rejuvenation of some of the narrowest sections of roads within the village.
Under a road closure, DSD Construction worked on behalf of the council to mill out the old worn-out surface, lay a new road surface, replace drain covers, and renew the white lines.
Residents are encouraged to report any issues on the road network by visiting the council’s website, or by phoning the Highways Hotline, Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 5pm at 0300 373 3736.
Councillor Denise Rollo, Cumberland Council’s Executive Portfolio Holder for Sustainable, Resilient and Connected Places, said:
“This project reflects Cumberland Council's dedication to maintaining and enhancing its infrastructure for the benefit of all residents within the Cumberland patch.
"We are grateful for the valuable feedback from the residents and Parish Council regarding the local road network. As a collaborative council, we value public input, and we are eager to address any concerns. Be it through a quick call to our Highways Hotline or by utilising our online platform, our team are ready to help.
"Making travel easier and safer will create jobs, facilitate smooth journeys, and achieve positive outcomes for health and wellbeing in Cumberland.”
