Cumberland Council's spectacular artisan fete returns for a second extravaganza!

Two alpacas

Cumberland Council is excited to announce a second artisan fete at the Distington Walled Garden in July.

Following the success of the first Cumberland Council fete held in April, the council is eager to continue showcasing the talents of local artisans and vendors, and have planned another Artisan Fete on Saturday 15 July, at the Distington Victorian Walled Garden, from 10am to 4pm.

The event will include a variety of local businesses showcasing their crafts at an outdoor market. Visitors can expect to find a diverse array of handmade items, ranging from woodcarving and leather goods to soft furnishings and candles.

In addition to the market, the event will also feature a café that will be open for drinks, cakes, and hot food.

One of the most popular attractions at the last event was the presence of alpacas and pygmy goats, and the council are pleased to announce that they will be making a return appearance. Visitors of all ages will love the opportunity to meet these charming animals up close and learn more about them, and for a small fee people can lead the alpacas on a short walk.

Councillor Anne Quilter, Cumberland Council’s Executive Portfolio Holder for Vibrant and Healthy Places, said:

“The Distington Victorian Walled Garden held an event in April, that was highly successful. This event, will showcase local businesses while delivering a fun-filled day for the whole family, with plenty of entertainment to be enjoyed.

“The Artisan Fete in July, will feature a wide range of stalls catering to the varied interests of visitors, including different food stalls, woodcarving, leather goods, soft furnishings, bath bombs, macrame and candles.

“This is an event that offers an incredible experience that you won't want to miss”.

The fete is free to enter. For more information about the event, please contact Cumberland Council by calling 01946 598305.
