The emergency accommodation scheme garden at Water Street, managed by Cumberland Council, has been given a make over thanks to the team from Thomas Graham, Carlisle. Taking part in the Give a Day Carlisle 2023 campaign, the team took on the challenge of transforming the outside and BBQ area for the accommodation.
The emergency accommodation scheme at Water Street plays a vital role in providing a safe haven and specialist support services for vulnerable single females and families who are facing challenging circumstances.
Give a Day Carlisle is an annual initiative that brings together local businesses, organisations, and volunteers to address the needs of various community projects. The scheme connects local people and business to projects in need of a helping hand and helps to increase a sense of community pride and togetherness.
Deputy Leader (Non-Statutory) of Cumberland Council and Executive Member for Children and Family Wellbeing and Housing, Cllr Emma Williamson, said: “I would like to thank the team of Thomas Graham staff who contributed their time, skills and enthusiasm to improve and create a wonderfully peaceful place within the garden which I am sure will provide welcome respite to families and children experiencing homelessness.
“Acts of kindness such as those inspired by Give a Day Carlisle help to improve our wonderful community here and make Cumberland a great place to live.”
