Cumberland Council has recently completed vital highway maintenance work on a 2.5 mile stretch of the C2054 between Branthwaite and Kidburn Gill, near Asby.
The council invested £366,000 in 10,522m2 of pothole patching and resurfacing works, replacing worn-out sections of road with a new surface. This essential project was completed in just ten days to help keep the necessary road closures and any delays to a minimum.
Councillor Denise Rollo, Cumberland Council’s Executive Portfolio Holder for Sustainable, Resilient and Connected Places, said:
“This project has seen the replacement of extensive, damaged sections of highway along this popular route, improving the comfort and safety of drivers on our roads. Our highways team installed the new, hard-wearing surface in only a week and a half with the aim of reducing disruption for local residents and businesses, who we thank for their patience and understanding during the works.”
