Improvement works continue at Blaze Bridge, High Lorton

Bridge

Cumberland Council is pleased to inform the local community that phase 2 of the Blaze Bridge project will be starting today (Tuesday 10 October).

The ongoing enhancement of Blaze Bridge, near High Lorton, has already successfully completed the following phases earlier in the year:

  • Strengthened stability with the installation of rock armour.
  • Rebuilt the retaining wall, enhancing structural integrity.
  • Improved carriageway drainage systems.
  • Meticulously repointed various bridge components.

The next phase will start today (Tuesday 10 October) and is expected to take around three weeks. During this phase, the Highways team will concentrate their efforts on the construction of the parapet approach walls, marking a significant milestone in the project's overall completion.

To facilitate the improvements there will be a full road closure while the works take place, with a diverted route fully signposted.

Cumberland Council wishes to thank the community for their continued support and patience while improvements are made to the bridge and apologises for any inconvenience and disruption caused.
