Upskill your workforce with “Multiply”

Businesses are being invited to find out more about how they can upskill their workforce with “Multiply.”

Cumbria's Adult Learning Service is hosting an event for local businesses to learn more about how the “Multiply” programme and help them boost their productivity, increase profits, and improve employee retention through workforce development.

The government funded “Multiply” programme is designed to help adults improve their numeracy skills and is delivered by the Adult Learning Service in partnership with Kendal College.

The event will be held at Kendal College on Thursday 16 November from 9.30am -1pm, with lunch and refreshments provided.

Tim Farron, MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale will also be attending as keynote speaker and businesses who would like to attend can register their attendance by emailing emma.boyd@westmorlandandfurness.gov.uk.

Cllr Sue Sanderson, Cabinet Member for Children’s, Education and Skills at Westmorland and Furness Council, said: “Employers who access the Multiply programme can receive support from their Local Authority and training providers to deliver bespoke education programmes for their workforce - at no cost to them.

“I also urge anyone aged 19 and over without a maths GCSE at grade C (or equivalent), to access free numeracy courses through Multiply to build their confidence with numbers and gain a qualification.”

Cllr Elaine Lynch, Executive Member for Lifelong Learning and Development at Cumberland Council, said: “There are courses for beginners all the way up to more advanced courses such as GCSE Maths, Functional Skills Qualifications, or equivalent, so you will be able to learn at a pace that suits you.

“People who improve their numeracy skills are more likely to be in employment, have higher wages, and better wellbeing, and will be more able to progress to higher levels of free training to secure a skilled job in our economy.”
