Cumberland Council is dedicated to ongoing improvements and needs the community's support to determine future bus routes. Public input on preferred destinations, frequencies, and travel times will be crucial for refining and enhancing services to better meet everyone’s needs and funding future services. To share your thoughts, please complete our online survey.

Printed copies of the survey can be found at Libraries and at some council buildings (Allerdale House in Workington, Cumbria House, and the Civic Centre both in Carlisle).

The survey is open from today, and will run until Friday 6 December.

Through Cumberland Council’s Community Panels officers will be attending the following Network Events to discuss bus services: -

  • Wednesday 6 November – Petteril Community Panel – 6.00pm – 8.00pm – Harraby Catholic Club
  • Thursday 14 November – Fells and Solway Community Panel – 12.00pm – 2.30pm – Kirkbampton Village Hall
  • Tuesday 26 November – Border Fellside and North Carlisle Network Event – 6.00pm – 8.00pm – Scotby Village Hall

The council is also exploring the possibility of holding additional meetings at locations across the area, if you have any suggestions, please contact integrated.transport@cumberland.gov.uk

Cumberland Council is also grateful for the £2.4 million in funding from the Department for Transport under the Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP), which will enable significant enhancements to bus services across Cumberland.

Cumberland Councillor Denise Rollo, Executive Member for Sustainable, Resilient and Connected Places, said:

“We are thrilled to announce these new bus routes! Working closely with Stagecoach, local members, and community stakeholders, we have crafted strategies to revitalise and expand bus services.

“We now need the public's help to ensure we get it right, so please complete the survey, which will take less than five minutes to complete.

“Our goal is to deliver a reliable and accessible network that truly connects our communities, making it easier for everyone to travel.”
