A contractor is being sought to design and build one of the projects within the Millom Town Deal programme.
The £10 million Ironline scheme will see the uniquely beautiful sea wall and coastal lagoon off the coast of Millom sensitively enhanced to form an inspirational and fully inclusive route across RSPB Hodbarrow with upwards of 7km of walking and cycling routes to be enhanced as part of the project.
A new welcome centre will be created, incorporating a café/bar, retail space and multi-use events room alongside adjacent parking for around 80 vehicles.
David Savage, the Chair of Millom Town Deal Board, said:
“We are witnessing another big step forward with the Ironline Scheme as we encourage Contractors to get involved and deliver this exciting project.
“Momentum is building across all the Town Deal projects and we need to be mindful that each of the four projects will evolve at a different pace in line with its delivery schedule.
“Today, we are focussing on the Ironline as we start to transform plans into positive change for our community.”
