Cumberland’s Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme launches to support families this winter

Cumbria's Holiday Activity and Food programme

As the festive season approaches, we are pleased to announce the launch of the Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme, aimed at providing fun, engaging activities and nutritious meals for children and young people during the Christmas holiday period.

This initiative, funded by the Department for Education, offers a diverse range of activities to school age children throughout the holidays. The winter offer includes face to face activity sessions and a number of remote options where eligible families can access food parcels and activity packs.

Deputy Leader (Non-Statutory) of Cumberland Council and Executive Member for Children, Family Wellbeing and Housing, Cllr Emma Williamson, said:

“We know the holiday season can be financially challenging for families. Our teams and partners have worked together to create an offer to provide support and a range of interesting activities for children and young people. We encourage all eligible families to take advantage of these opportunities and to reach out if they need support throughout the winter.”

Running from Friday 20 December to Tuesday 7 January, 39 organisations across Cumberland will be delivering a HAF programme with over 2500 spaces available.

Eligible families can find out what is available near them at Cumberland.gov.uk/holidays. Spaces are limited, so early registration is encouraged to secure a spot.
