A packed programme of events is planned in the Cumberland area over Easter Bank Holiday weekend and during Spring.
Family friendly events are planned in a variety of locations and include:
Carlisle International Market (Thursday 28 March - Monday 1 April)
Organised by Market Place Europe, the event will be held outside the Old Town Hall in Carlisle.
Shoppers will be spoilt for choice with a huge mix of authentic continental treats in the city centre. Stalls will be open between:
- Thursday 28 March: 9am - 6pm.
- Friday 29 March: 9am - 6pm.
- Saturday 30 March: 9am - 6pm.
- Sunday 31 March: 10am - 5pm.
- Bank Holiday Monday: 10am - 5pm.
More than 40 traders will be taking part bringing an array of global treats to the City Centre from unique arts and crafts, fine foods and delis to some amazing mouth-watering street foods.
For food lovers, there will be a tempting selection of continental and international flavours to sample. On offer will be Greek gyros, Chinese, Crepes, exotic burgers and salt and pepper chicken to name but a few, and for those wanting to take the flavours of the world home with them there will be a great selection of fresh foods including olives, cheeses, salami and handmade breads and cakes baked fresh on site.
Also, browse some of the great craft stalls including handmade jewellery, Fairtrade wooden furniture and carvings, and of course the famous Dutch Flowers on Tour selling a huge array of shrubs, bulbs, beautiful plants and trees with some great garden ornaments.
When you’re all shopped out you can relax and unwind in a Continental Street Bar with a variety of Continental beers and wine.

Easter Fun at The Beacon, Whitehaven
The incredible Pet Encounters team will teach you about their beautiful animals, their habitat, where they originate from, and how to care and look after them. You’ll also get a chance to hold and interact with many of the animals.
Pet Encounters will be at The Beacon for three sessions on Good Friday (29 March) and Thursday 11 April at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.
Workshops and events will be held at The Beacon Museum between 30 March and 1 April, plus between 8 April and 10 April 2024, 11am and 2pm each day.
Join them for a spring-themed craft workshop to make your own cuddly pom-pom animals, and a colourful basket to carry them home in.
There will also be a Flip Entertainment Magic Show on Friday 12 April.
Flip will be at The Beacon for three shows at 11am, 1pm and 3pm on Friday 12 April 2024. Tickets cost £7.50 per child and £2.50 per adult. Places are limited, so we advise to book quickly to avoid disappointment.

Easter Holiday Pop Up Museum (Monday 8 - Saturday 13 April)
Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery is bringing a Pop-up Museum to The Lanes Shopping Centre in Carlisle during the Easter holidays.
Members of Team Tullie will be in the pop-up 9.30am-4.30pm, Monday to Saturday. As with their regular craft sessions when the museum is open, 1pm-4pm each day will be devoted to drop-in family activities.

Taste Cumbria Wigton (Saturday 20 April)
It’s the fourth time the event has been held in Wigton.

Cumberland Council’s Holiday activities and food programme (HAF) will also provide free, fun activities over Easter and is funded by the Department for Education.

Taste Cumbria Wigton will be followed by the Taste of the Sea festival in Maryport on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 August, then the flagship Taste Cumbria festival in Cockermouth on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September. Taste Cumbria Christmas on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 December, also in Cockermouth, will end the year.
