Everyone is welcome at a public drop-in event which will showcase one of the major investment plans for Workington.

Work is beginning on the Workington Gateway which involves the key junction at Ramsay Brow and Bridge Street, and improvements to Hall Brow and Hall Park.

This public engagement event will take place at the Workington open-air market, held in and around the Washington Square shopping centre, on Wednesday 7 August 2024 and will showcase the different aspects of the project initiative, which are part of £30 million of regeneration schemes aiming to improve the town for locals and visitors alike.

The Workington Gateway scheme involves:

  • Changes to this important access route into Workington and its links to industrial and employment areas
  • The widening of Hall Brow, including better parking for residents
  • Improvements to ‘active travel’ pedestrian and cycle routes in and around Hall Park
  • The transformation of the West House pottery and walled garden

Leader of Cumberland Council, Cllr Mark Fryer said:

“The Workington Gateway scheme is really gathering pace and will open up some key economic areas of the town.

“It is an interesting time for Workington and I hope this event will give you the chance to find out more and see how your town is developing.”

The initiative has been funded by the Government and is being carried out by Cumberland Council.

The public drop-in event will take place at the Workington open-air market, held in and around the Washington Square shopping centre on Wednesday 7 August between 10am and 3.30pm.
