Free event for landlords and letting agents

Landlord event

LANDLORDS and letting agents are being offered free advice and information at a networking event hosted by Cumberland Council.

Property owners and agents will have the opportunity to meet and discuss the latest changes in housing law and legislation and ask experts questions.

The event will take place on Thursday 26 September, from 10.30am to 1.00pm, at Carlisle Civic Centre and is free of charge.

The National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA) will be updating landlords and letting agents on legislative updates and changes within the rented sector following the general election.
Following the success of a similar event held in March 2024, the event will feature a series of exhibitors who will be on hand to answer any questions.

Representatives from Cumbria Police will attend the event to discuss organised crime in the rented sector.

Property guardian organisation, Ad Hoc, will deliver a talk at the event surrounding innovative solutions for empty homes which will save owners time and money.

Representatives from Westmorland and Furness Council’s PSH team, Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), and Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service will also be in attendance at the event.

Councillor Bob Kelly, Cumberland Council Executive Member for Policy and Regulatory Services, said: “The working strategy of Cumberland Council is to inform organisations, employers and the general public of laws and enforcement procedures to prevent problems and incidents from arising.

“This event is a fantastic opportunity for landlords and letting agents to network whilst ensuring they’re up to date with the latest bills, laws, and legislation.

“We want to help landlords and letting agents from across Cumberland to be well informed about legislative updates and changes within their sector, and ensure their tenancies are safe and legal.

“This event is a brilliant opportunity to gain valuable insight and information, provided by the experts, for free. It’s an opportunity not to be missed”.

Book your place via the NRLA website. Bookings closed on Monday 23 September.

Following this event, the NRLA will be hosting two other events with Cumberland Council in 2024.

On Friday 25 October from 9.30am to 4.30pm there will be a full day landlord training event at Allerdale House, Workington.

On Friday 22 November from 9.30 to 2pm there will be a half day damp training event at The Civic Centre, Carlisle.

More details on both of these events will be released in the coming weeks.
