An arty new experience is coming to the Taste Cumbria festival in Cockermouth next month.

A Brush and Tipple Paint Party will take place on Friday 27 September, ahead of the main festival on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September.

Brush and Tipple events combine an arty workshop with a few drinks, so guests can paint and sip at the same time! There will be step-by-step guidance for beginners, all painting supplies are provided, and the aim is to create a relaxing and friendly atmosphere where anyone, of any ability, can explore their arty side. They will be helped to create their own ‘Hairy Hamish’ – using a stylish Highland cow print as their inspiration.

The Paint Party will be held at The Vicky Shared Workspace in High Sand Lane, Cockermouth, from 7pm. Tickets are on sale now priced £28.50 and spaces are very limited, so early booking is advised. Guests can bring their own drinks and glasses will be provided. Buy tickets now at www.visitallerdale.co.uk/things-to-do/taste-cumbria-cockermouth/

This is one of a number of events taking place in Cockermouth over the Taste Cumbria festival weekend. A Supper Club by The Cottage in the Wood team at the Low Hall The Lakes venue has already sold out and tickets will go on sale shortly for the Taste Cumbria Comedy Night. Elsewhere in town, Kirkgate Arts are hosting a ‘Kirk Kit’ sale of sporting goods, and there will be an Art & Craft Fair at the United Reform Church on Main Street.

This is all in addition to the main festival which takes place on Main Street, Market Place and Memorial Gardens car park. There will be dozens of producers’ stalls, hot food stands, a drinks tent, children’s entertainment and loads of live music.

The Taste Cumbria events are run by Cumberland Council and take place in the heart of Cumberland’s towns giving a boost to the local economy and offering a wealth of different attractions.

The festivals are free to attend, include lots of children’s activities, and also have some additional ticketed events. For the latest information go to www.visitallerdale.co.uk/taste-cumbria-home
