Grab your wellies! Mawbray Banks needs you for a beach clean.

The Solway Coast National Landscape, Cumberland Council, and the Marine Conservation Society have joined forces to organise a beach clean at Mawbray Banks, between Allonby and Silloth, in September and are looking for volunteers.

The Solway Coast National Landscape is dedicated to conserving the natural beauty, landscape and biodiversity of our unique coastal environment. Through community engagement, conservation projects, and educational events, they work to ensure the Solway Coast remains a special place for future generations.

The beach clean and litter survey at Mawbray Banks is being organised as part of the Great British Beach Clean and will be a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together and help protect our beautiful coastline. All equipment and tools will be provided – they just need everyone’s enthusiasm and participation!

Event Details:

  • Date: Monday, 23 September
  • Time: 10.00am
  • Meeting Point: Mawbray Banks south car park (CA15 6QS, What3Words: nowadays.tolerable.sprays)

The volunteers and organisers will walk down to the beach from the meeting point. Volunteers are encouraged to wear appropriate footwear and dress for the weather, as conditions on the beach can be windy. Please bring any drinks and snacks you may need to stay comfortable during the event.

If you are interested in volunteering, please register through the info@solwaycoastaonb.org.uk

Volunteer participation helps keep the coastline clean and supports important conservation efforts. Even an hour of your time will make a difference. Being outdoors is also great for your wellbeing!
