Stars of Tomorrow Ball

The Stars of Tomorrow Ball is thrilled to announce that Member of Parliament Josh McAlister will be the distinguished guest speaker at this year's highly anticipated event. The ball, which will take place on 6 September at Energus, Workington promises to be an unforgettable evening.

Josh McAlister MP is known for his extensive and impactful career dedicated to improving the lives of children and families. Before his election to Parliament, he served as the Executive Chair of Foundations, the What Works Centre for Children and Families, and co-founded SHiFT.

As a former teacher, Josh’s commitment to social care is evident. In 2013, he founded the charity Frontline, which he led for eight years. Under his leadership, Frontline made significant strides in the field of children’s social care. Subsequently, Josh was appointed to chair the government-commissioned independent review of children's social care. This landmark review, which concluded in May 2022, emphasized listening to those with personal experience and proposed a bold plan to transform children’s social care, ensuring it supports families, communities, and the care system itself in providing children with safety, stability, and love.

The event will also include a variety of entertainment including a singer, drag act and DJ. It is being hosted by Cumbria Youth Alliance, Inspira and Cumberland Council and has been created to raise money for a newly created Enrichment Fund dedicated to supporting cared for and care experienced children and young people.

The Enrichment Fund will provide cared for and care experienced children and young people with the funding to access travel, education and training, arts and culture as well as health and wellbeing opportunities. The aim is to help support these young people to build skills and aspirations so they can have a brighter future and supports them to level the playing field.
