Improving your journey: Kingstown Road, Carlisle to get resurfaced

Highway worker and van

Cumberland Council will begin essential resurfacing works on the A7 Kingstown Road in Carlisle between Moorville Drive and Lowry Hill Road, starting Monday 18 November.

To carry out this resurfacing project, temporary two-way traffic lights will be installed on Kingstown Road, along with a road closure on Lowry Hill Road.

The work will commence on Monday 18 November and will continue for five days, weather permitting. Work will take place Monday to Friday, from 8.00am to 5.00pm, with no weekend work planned.

Please be advised that access in the area may be disrupted at times, and some delays are expected. However, all traffic management will be removed outside of working hours to help minimise disruption.

While vehicle access for residents and businesses will be maintained whenever possible, the council ask that the public discuss specific access needs with on-site staff. Access for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians, and dismounted cyclists will be fully maintained.

Recycling and waste collections will not be disrupted, and information about bus stop relocations will be posted at current bus stop locations. For any queries regarding bus routes, passengers are encouraged to contact Stagecoach directly.

Cumberland Council reminds the public that businesses remain open as usual throughout this essential work and encourage the community to continue supporting local businesses.

The council thanks the public for their patience and cooperation during this important project and apologises for any inconvenience caused.
