Cumberland Council is informing residents and businesses of upcoming resurfacing works on London Road, between Charles Street and Brook Street in Carlisle.
The resurfacing work comprises of a carriageway inlay project which will improve the road's durability and quality. Replacing ironwork for future maintenance accessibility, and renewing line markings throughout.
These works are scheduled to commence on Wednesday 17 January until Tuesday 30 January 2024, for a duration of ten nights, weather permitting.
To enable the council to complete works safely, it will be necessary to close the road from Charles Street to Brook Street, each evening, with a full diversion route – please go to one.network for more information.
The resurfacing works will be carried out each evening from approximately 7pm to 1am. The road will be accessible outside of these hours if it is considered safe.
The council is asking residents to find alternative car parking during these works.
If residents or businesses require access to their property, we kindly request that this is discussed with the Traffic Marshal who will be on site during the works, please be aware that there might be some delays accessing properties.
The council is reminding the community that businesses within the area remain open and will be fully operational.
Access will be maintained for emergency services during the works.
