Cumberland Council, in partnership with Connect Roads, is set to begin essential resurfacing works on the A7 north of Longtown. The project will commence on Sunday 6 October 2024, and continue through to Saturday 12 October 2024. The work will take place overnight, from 7:00PM to 6:00AM, and is subject to weather conditions, which may lead to last-minute changes.
During this period, the A7 will be closed between the junction with the A6071 and the B7201 junction for Canonbie. A clearly marked diversion route will be in place, and all road users are advised to follow the signage and plan their journeys accordingly.
To accommodate local residents and businesses, personnel will be stationed at closure points to safely escort people through the works when possible. However, short delays may occur depending on ongoing site activities. Access for emergency services will be maintained throughout the works.
