The Taste Cumbria Comedy Night is back!

Taste Cumbria Cockermouth

In need of a laugh? Get yourself to the next Taste Cumbria Comedy Night in Cockermouth on Saturday 28 September.

It’s part of the flagship Taste Cumbria festival which takes place across the town throughout Saturday and Sunday. There will be dozens of producers’ stalls, hot food stands, a drinks tent, children’s entertainment and loads of live music.

The Comedy Night is being held at Cockermouth Cricket Club from 7pm. Tickets cost £18 per person.

There’s a great line-up of comics at the event. The compere is Matt Reed, who will be a familiar face to Taste Cumbria regulars. Described as ‘fantastic and talented’ by The Independent, as well as being ‘the finest compere I’ve seen in a long time’, this Sunderland native is both cheeky and brutal, with a talent for skilfully destroying any heckler who dares to cross his path.

You may have seen headliner Brennan Reece on the BBC’s Live At The Apollo, Celeb Coach Trip on E4 and The Stand Up Sketch Show on ITV – or even on Top Gear where his appearance went viral after he experienced a lap with The Stig. This ‘multi award winning working class wordsmith’ is a ‘stand-up, storyteller and self confessed mummy’s boy’.

He’s joined by Geordie comic Louise Young who has a laid back style, warmth and wonderfully crafted, razor sharp jokes which has led to her being the host of a weekly comedy radio show on BBC Newcastle and Tees and the Grin Up North Show.

Then there’s Ryan Kenny, described as ‘a socially inept comedian who specialises in the art of random poetry and awkward’ who was a semi finalist for British Comedian of the Year. Critics say: “Masterfully crafted material that’s both hilarious and insanely good fun. Kenny is refreshingly original and brilliant in equal measure.”

This isn’t the only ticketed event at Taste Cumbria Cockermouth. A Brush and Tipple Paint Party will take place on Friday 27 September, combining an arty workshop with a few drinks, so guests can paint and sip at the same time.
