Cumberland Council would like to update residents and businesses of planned tree maintenance on Warwick Road, Carlisle.
Commencing on Sunday 11 February, the maintenance work is scheduled for the next four Sundays, starting at 7.30am.
The Highways Team will start work from the East end of Warwick Road, progressing towards Carlisle city centre. Utilising a stop and go traffic management system. This approach will ensure traffic light control while, maintaining a safe working environment, with minimal disruptions during this period.
This work has been organised following tree surveys which identified a range of work that needed to be carried out including crown reductions from properties and streetlights, crown cleans to remove any dead branches, pollarding, and unfortunately the removal of seven trees.
The council is assuring the public that tree removal is considered a last resort, aligning with the council's policy, which directs removal only in cases where the tree is dead, dying, diseased, or dangerous. Consequently, only trees meeting these criteria will be removed. This also means that not every tree in the area will undergo maintenance.
Residents in areas directly affected by tree removal will receive letters from the council’s contractor, providing detailed explanations for the removal. Residents may need to find alternative parking during the work, which the council is grateful for.
Cumberland Council wishes to thank the community for their continued support and patience while these works take place on Warwick Road and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
