Cumberland Council is pleased to announce the start of drainage improvement works between Thurstonfield and Kirkbampton.
This project is scheduled to begin from Monday 3 February, and is expected to take approximately ten days to complete, subject to weather conditions. Several sunken and damaged gullies along the B5307 in Thurstonfield will be replaced to prevent flooding in residents' driveways. Additionally, minor pothole repairs covering 29 square metres will be completed.
To ensure the safety of both workers and the public, a full road closure will be in effect throughout the duration of the works, with a signed diversion route in place.
Work will take place Monday to Friday, between 8.00am and 4.00pm, and the road will remain closed for the duration of the works, excluding weekends.
Residents or businesses requiring access to their property or business, are encouraged with site staff during working hours, or contact the council in advance by visiting Cumberland Council website, or calling the Highways Hotline at 0300 373 3736.
Full access will be available for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians, and dismounted cyclists throughout the works.
Waste and recycling collections will proceed as usual, while updates about temporary bus stop relocations will be posted at affected stops. Passengers with bus route questions are encouraged to contact Stagecoach directly.
Cumberland Council wishes to thank the community for their cooperation and patience during these essential drainage improvements and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
