This project is part of a £14.3 million Government-funded programme aimed at enhancing road infrastructure and reducing future disruptions, making travel smoother and safer for all. Once complete, the upgraded section will significantly improve journey quality and resilience, benefiting both residents, commuters and businesses.
The resurfacing work will start today, Monday 24 February 2025, and will last for approximately six weeks, weather permitting.
The work will take place in two phases:
- Phase 1: from Monday 24 February until Monday 31 March, the footway reconstruction and the drainage repairs will be carried out under temporary traffic lights during the daytime hours from 7.30am to 6.00pm for a period of five weeks.
- Phase 2: From Monday 31 March and continuing until Saturday 5 April, carriageway resurfacing will follow. This phase will require a nighttime road closure from 7.00pm to 5.00am.
To minimise daytime disruption, a nighttime road closure will be in place. However, between 7.00pm and 10.00pm, vehicles will be escorted through the site. After 10.00pm, the road will remain fully closed to allow the contractor to complete the works safely. During the day, temporary traffic lights will be in operation.
Vehicle access for residents and businesses will be permitted whenever it is safe to do so. However there may be times when access is restricted due to ongoing works.
