MORE than £10,000 has been invested into two vital community projects in the Workington area.

Advice services and activities for young people will benefit from the most recent funding round from Workington Together Community Panel. At their recent meeting:

Citizens Advice Allerdale was awarded £1,549 towards employing an apprentice.

Soundwave received £8,675 to fund new arts activities for young people at the Carnegie Theatre in Workington.

Cllr Jimmy Grisdale, Chair of Workington Together Community Panel, said: "These are two fantastic projects for the people of Workington. It is great to be able to help Citizens Advice extend their invaluable services, and Soundwave have a long history of successfully delivering innovative arts-based activities."

The Workington Together Community Panel covers the wards of Mossbay, Moorclose, Harrington, Seaton, St John’s and Great Clifton, and St Michael’s.
