St John Henry Newman Catholic School is situated on the edge of the Great Border City of Carlisle, on an elevated site with open views over the countryside and city. Located within a short drive from the Lake District National Park and easy access to M6 motorway providing links to both South West Scottish Borders and beautiful Cumbria. Our brand new school offers a modern, airy environment with excellent facilities. Ofsted recently judged the school as “good” in all areas with Teaching and Learning a particular a strength of the school. The Governors are seeking to appoint a dynamic, forward thinking, leading individual to join our successful school.

The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Leadership Team working specifically on the monitoring and development of Teaching and Learning.

You will be:
• Responsible for the development of teaching and learning (working with the leadership team) and have a proven track record of delivering high quality lessons as well as established experience in observing and evaluating the teaching of others to enable the delivery of good and outstanding lessons across the school.

• Required to undertake some further whole school responsibilities that will be decided in discussion with the successful applicant and linked to your strengths and aspirations.

• Required to have wider school participation.

In addition you will be a gifted communicator who is able to inspire others and have a desire to lead whole school initiatives.  You will be a creative and flexible thinker with the capacity to implement change and plan strategically. You will be a proven leader who is able to manage a range of short and long term projects simultaneously working at a sustained pace and with good humour.
