School Mission Statement:
St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School is a caring place where we work together to do our best knowing we are special in God’s eyes.
The governing body of St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School are seeking to appoint a practising Catholic to the position of Headteacher. We are looking for someone who will build on our strong Catholic ethos and share our whole school vision.
St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School is situated in Workington, on the edge of the Lake District National Park, which is an area of outstanding natural beauty. We seek to appoint a highly motivated headteacher with a clear vision to continue to promote high standards of learning as well as an innovative, creative curriculum which nurtures the whole child. We benefit from an active and supportive local community, including strong partnerships with the local parish. Recently we have made significant investments in our outdoor learning environment enabling us to enhance learning beyond the classroom. St Patrick’s is proud of its extended provision and has strong links with the consortium of Workington schools.
In September 2019 Ofsted judged St Patrick’s to be a good school. Pupil behaviour and attitudes were described as excellent.
Ofsted stated ‘Pupils cherish their time at St Patrick’s School. They see themselves as part of a large family in which teachers and other adults are kind and helpful. Pupils eagerly share their positive feelings about the school and staff. Pupils say that they feel safe because all staff care about them. Pupils and adults show high levels of respect for each other in school.’
Our school aims are:
• to educate our children in the Catholic Faith, nurturing their spirituality and developing their understanding and tolerance and respect for others,
• to equip each child spiritually, intellectually, aesthetically and physically. To encourage them to become responsible members of the community in which they live and within society in general.
• to teach a knowledge based, fully inclusive curriculum, which promotes cultural capital and enables every child to achieve the highest expectations set for them.
• to create a happy and stimulating atmosphere where every child can achieve the best possible through activity and experience.
• to help children to become independent, self-motivated and self-disciplined individuals,
• to develop understanding of the world in which they live, of the interdependence of individuals, groups, nations and the environment,
• to establish a culture of learning for all in the school. To stimulate and inspire learning and help children to learn how to learn,
• to support and encourage the development of children’s self-respect and respect for others.
• to help children develop interests and skills to enable them to enjoy and make the best use of their leisure time.
We can offer you:
• a school where children are at the centre and Jesus is at the heart of everything we do;
• a highly supportive Governing Body that is driven to ensure that our children reach their full potential;
• a dedicated, skilled and mutually supportive staff, committed to care for and develop each child;
• a welcoming school with happy and enthusiastic children who are keen to learn and are supported by their committed parents/carers;
• opportunities for your continued professional development.
Our Head Boy and Head Girl would like ‘a headteacher who is kind and fun, and who wants to join in with what we are doing. A headteacher that helps us and cares about us and who makes good decisions to help other people in our community.’
