Full-time, permanent position from April 2025
The Gillford Centre; a mixed pupil referral unit (PRU) 50 FTE (KS1-4),
School 180: a mixed SEMH/AP unit 40 FTE (KS4)
plus, variable numbers in the Home and Hospital Tuition Service (HHTS)
We seek to appoint a highly motivated, inspirational and innovative Headteacher to lead our school in its next exciting phase of development from good (Ofsted, Jan 2023) to outstanding. We have an experienced, dedicated team of professionals and the school is well respected by colleagues in Cumberland and beyond.
The successful candidate will have the energy and passion to lead a successful and safe school
and will:
• understand of the unique context of working in a pupil referral unit and alternative provision.
• model excellence and creativity in quality of educational provision, curriculum development and teaching, as well as in leadership and management.
• lead, support and inspire all staff and students to strive continually to achieve their best.
• develop and strengthen the existing close collaboration with schools across Cumberland and key partners, including alternative providers, within Cumbria.
• display throughout the school high standards of behaviour and cultural school norms.

Our new Headteacher should be continually aiming for excellence but most importantly they should be kind, have the belief that anything is possible and be able to foster this belief in those around them. The candidate is expected to have a deep understanding of SEND.
