Cover and Exams Officer
37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year term time only
Actual Salary £24338 (£27711 Full Time Equivalent)
At Cumbria Futures Federation we work at the heart of our communities. Our small secondary schools are inclusive, welcoming and ambitious. With a wide range of abilities in each class and a broad and balanced curriculum, our ‘Good’ schools punch well above their weight and provide a unique experience for our students.
We are seeking a Cover and Exams Officer to work at Solway Community School as part of a small and friendly team organising and providing cover for teaching staff and teaching assistants across our Federation. The role will also encompass Exams Officer duties, which includes managing and delivering all arrangements for internal and external exams.
We have a strong ethos of pastoral support and extra-curricular learning. As you would expect in small schools with a family ethos, we all pitch in to ensure our students are taught well and supported superbly.
We provide excellent opportunities to be involved in school-wide activities as well as managing cover and exams and personally delivering excellent cover lessons. The ideal candidate will be able to inspire and engage students in a range of subjects, to form positive relationships and instil a respectful and calm atmosphere in the classroom. Our behavioural approach is one of high expectations and positive regard, and work in lessons is complimented by strong pastoral support and clear processes to follow.
You will also be organised and precise, able to deliver a quality exams service, following policy and procedure closely and demonstrating adherence to JCQ requirements.
If you feel you share our values, then we would like to hear from you. For an informal conversation about the role and what it is like working for us, please contact the school office to arrange a chat with our Finance and Admin Manager, Director of Finance or Deputy Headteacher.
For additional information and to apply please visit our websites www.solwayschool.co.uk or www.beaconhill.cumbria.sch.uk, or call 016973 31234 or 20509 for an application pack.
Closing date for applications Wednesday 6th November 2024. Interviews will be held later that week.
Our schools take safeguarding very seriously. All posts involving direct contact with children are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and the successful applicant will be required to hold or undergo a suitable enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service disclosure. However, amendments to the ROA 1974 (Exceptions Order 1975 (2013 & 2020)) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’. These are not subject to disclosure to employers and cannot be considered. Guidance and criteria on the filtering of these cautions and convictions can be found on the Ministry of Justice website or via the Unlock website.
Short-listed candidates will be asked to complete a criminal record self-disclosure form to provide details of all unspent convictions and those that would not be filtered or protected, to be returned to the school prior to the date of the interview. You may be asked for further information about your criminal history during the recruitment process. If your application is successful, this criminal record self-disclosure information will be checked against information from the Disclosure & Barring Service before your appointment is confirmed.
In addition to the above, the school reserves the right to carry out an online search on short-listed candidates. This will only include a search for information which is publicly available online. Please note it is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
