Permanent Part Time Clerk to Governing Body
20 hours per annum (minimum - negotiated additional hours may be required)
Attendance at a minimum of 3 Full Governing body meetings per year, plus additional duties totalling approx. 20 hours per annum, term time only.
St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School for meetings, remote for all other duties.
Salary: £23,656 pro rata (£12.26 per hour)
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and caring small school. The Governors of St Joseph's School are seeking to appoint a Clerk to support the governing body.
The successful candidate will:
• Be accountable to the governing board, working effectively with the Chair of Governors, the Head Teacher and other governors.
• ensure the continuity and effectiveness of governing board business, by providing high quality confidential administrative support, working within the governance legislative framework.
• maintain an archive of records; documenting meetings, governor details, statutory policy details and terms of reference.
• be an excellent communicator committed to being part of an effective team within the whole school community.
• be committed to their own professional development.
Key responsibilities:
• Organise and attend governing body meetings
• Work with the Chair and Head to prepare an agenda and supporting documents, and distribute these to the governing body
• Take thorough minutes and monitor actions at the meetings
• Advise the Governing Body on governance legislation and procedural matters where necessary
• Maintain records of governor details, including training, declaration of interests, membership of committees and attendance
• Arrange governor recruitment and elections, including communicating with new governors
• Ensure Criminal Records Bureau disclosures have been successfully carried out
• Advise the Governing Body on procedural issues
• Have access to appropriate legal advice, support and guidance
• Monitor Clerk email address and maintain records of Governing Body correspondence.
