Active Travel Infrastructure Planning

Our Active Travel programme and what we do.

We want to increase the number of local journeys being walked, wheeled and cycled within Cumberland. To do this we have an Active Travel Infrastructure Planning programme of work.

Our Active Travel programme focusses on identifying suitable projects and securing funding for the Council to design and deliver new and improved infrastructure, including those identified in our Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans (LCWIPs) and strategic corridors.

This is undertaken in alignment with the Council’s aims and funding objectives, and linking in with other teams and external partners on projects that will lead to delivery of improved infrastructure, and more people walking, wheeling and cycling.
