Cummersdale Holmes

A circular walk offering a tranquil respite just a stone's throw from the hustle and bustle of Carlisle's busy city centre.

Facilities and features

This greenspace includes:

  • There is a river bank footpath
  • Dalston to Carlisle Cycle Way providing a circular walk

Cummersdale Holmes is now a floodwater storage zone and may well be either underwater or very wet underfoot. Please take great care as some of the river banks are quite severely undercut through river erosion, making them prone to collapse. This is part of the natural processes of river channel morphology, adding to the habitat and wildlife diversity of the area.

Cummersdale Holmes lies in between Cummersdale and Denton Holme, alongside the River Caldew, just south of the City of Carlisle.
