Town Centre public realm and connectivity

Background

Using Town Deal funding, this scheme is creating a prominent and accessible gateway through these busy town centre streets into the main shopping hub.

The aim of this project is to make travelling through Workington – particularly on foot – into a far more pleasant experience. One of the key areas improved will be the link across to Washington Square next to Argos to encourage a wider range of community uses and improve the flow between the key retail areas.

A wayfinding scheme is aimed at signposting routes between the town centre, the railway station and the town’s historic Hall Park.
