About the council changes
The councils Cumberland has replaced and the services we will deliver.
Cumberland Council is a unitary council. We have replaced:
- Allerdale Borough Council
- Copeland Borough Council
- Carlisle City Council
- Cumbria County Council
We deliver a range of services including:

- Council Tax and benefits
- Homelessness prevention
- Maintaining roads, pavements and footpaths
- Business rates
- Adult learning
- Schools and social care
- Libraries and archives
- Registration services
Cumberland Council will provide services to people who live in Allerdale, Carlisle and Copeland.
