Information about the Chair of Cumberland Council

Councillor Andrew Semple

The role of the Chair, who is elected by members of the Council at the Annual meeting, is non-political. The Chair promotes public involvement in the Council’s activities, acting as a focal point for the community. Presiding over meetings of the Council, the Chair ensures that business is carried out efficiently and with regard to the rights of councillors and the interests of the communities they represent.

The current Chair of the Council is Cllr Andy Semple and the Vice-Chair is Cllr Linda Jones-Bulman.

They were elected into these roles in May 2024 and will continue until May 2025.

The Chair will be pleased to consider invitations to attend events such as official openings or social functions.
