Food businesses

We will carry out an inspection if we receive a complaint about a business which is allegedly not complying with food hygiene regulations.

To protect the public and to maintain standards we carry out regular checks on all food premises.

This national scheme, run in partnership with the Food Standards Agency, shows the hygiene standards based on inspections carried out by our food safety officers. It is not a guide to food quality.

The UK Health Security Agency usually tells us about confirmed cases of food poisoning and infectious diseases.

You should do this at least 28 days before trading, or before your food operation starts.

If you operate certain types of food premises you may need to be approved either by us or in some cases, the Foods Standards Agency.
