Paying for long term residential services

How we consider your financial resources to calculate how much you or someone you look after will contribute towards the cost of care and support and how much we will contribute.

Personal Expenses Allowance

If you're living in residential care, you must be left with a minimum amount of income after your financial contribution to residential care, so you have enough money to spend on personal items such as clothes and other items which are not part of their care.

This is called a Personal Expenses Allowance.

If you are living in a care home then you are entitled to a Personal Expenses Allowance of £30.15 a week.

This is the amount set by the Department of Health and is reviewed annually.
