Cumbria's Children Centred Policing Team
Cumbria Constabulary has adopted a child centred approach to policing. The core purpose of this is to recognise children as “children first” in every interaction and to improve the quality of policing for children and young people by acknowledging their differences, recognising their vulnerabilities, and meeting their needs.
We have an emphasis on early intervention to divert away from offending, prevent the unnecessary criminalisation of children and reduce risk of harm.
If you have concerns for a person under 18 years old
If the person is displaying risk taking behaviour or escalating behaviour, they may be suitable for early intervention. You should complete a referral form, which will be reviewed and acted on where appropriate by Cumbria’s Child Centred Policing Team.
If you believe the young person is at immediate risk of harm, please phone 101 or 999.
