A5086 Frizington Highway Improvements – latest updates and road closure schedule

Highways team member and van

Cumberland Council continues its £1 million investment in A5086 improvements, with the next phase starting Monday 7 October.

Phase 4 will commence on Monday 7 October to Sunday 13 October, involving a road closure from Church Street to the Frizington Household Waste Recycling Centre – HWRC (the tip).

Phase 5 of the road improvement works will begin on Monday 14 October and is expected to finish by Saturday 19 October, with a road closure from the Frizington HWRC (the tip) to Kenmare Tyres.

This means that access to the Frizington HWRC may be limited from 7 October to 21 October, between 7am and 7pm. While the HWRC will remain open, access cannot be guaranteed. As an alternative, please consider using Clay Flatts HWRC or Maryport HWRC. To find your nearest HWRC please visit the Cumberland Council website.

Please note that all road improvement dates and plans are weather-dependent.

To minimise disruption to school commutes, school buses will have access during peak times from 7.45am to 8.30am and 3.00pm to 3.45pm.

The council understands the impact these highway improvements have had on the community and apologises for any inconvenience caused; while stressing that these upgrades are essential to reduce future disruptions and enhance the quality of road infrastructure in Frizington.

If the community have any questions or concerns, please speak with staff on-site, visit https://bit.ly/ReportAProblemCumberland, or contact the Highway’s Hotline at 0300 373 3736.
