Hundreds of members of the public have helped inspire new investment plans for Maryport.

Cumberland Council teams recently visited Carlisle Youth Zone to get feedback from their senior group of members about Carlisle. Consultation events for the proposed plans for Devonshire Street and English Street in Carlisle have been ongoing since early June.

Local communities in Cumberland Council area will see £1m worth of investment thanks to spending plans agreed by the council’s Executive committee.

Works will get underway this autumn to improve access across the top of the small beach within Maryport Harbour.

Cumberland Council is reminding residents and businesses that they still have time to have their say on the development plans for Devonshire Street and English Street in Carlisle. The schemes, funded by the UK Government’s Future High Street Fund and Town Deal Fund, aim to improve the space for the local community and businesses on Devonshire Street and English Street.

Everyone is welcome at two public drop-in events which will help drive new investment plans for Maryport.

Contractors are on site starting the transformation of one of Maryport’s most historic buildings. Christ Church on King Street is becoming a new home for Maryport Maritime Museum and work has now started on site.

With an estimated cost of £27,000, Cumberland Council has recently rebuilt a collapsed wall at Bushfield, Penton in Carlisle.
