Roads managed by National Highways  

National Highways look after four major roads in Cumberland:

  • M6
  • A66
  • A595 - from the A66 to Calder Bridge
  • A69 - from Carlisle M6, Junction 43, heading east

Applications for permits and licences on any of these roads should be submitted directly to National Highways.

Roads managed by Connect Roads

Connect Roads look after the following major roads in Cumberland:

  • A595 - Carlisle to Cockermouth
  • A594
  • A596
  • A689 Carlisle to Brampton A69 roundabout
  • A689 CNDR Bypass
  • A6071
  • A7 Carlisle junction 44 north to Scottish boundary
