Hoarding or fencing permit
You must apply for a hoarding or fencing permit if you intend to:
- erect or take down a building in a street
- alter or repair the outside of a building in a street
This permit allows you to erect a close boarded hoarding or fence. Permits are normally only issued to the company installing the hoarding or fencing.

How much notice to give
Please give a minimum of 7 working days notice. For low risk sites we need a minimum of 3 working days notice.
Other information you need to provide
You also must provide:
- a sketch showing the width of the pavement or grass verge
- a copy of your public liability insurance documents, showing you have a minimum of £5 million of cover
