Maryport’s high street has a great mix of independent businesses and some national names. The variety ranges from practical stores, like hardware shops, to galleries and gifts, plus services like hairdressers and professional services firms. But, over time, some of the shop fronts had become tatty or unflattering.

Now, many of those shopfronts have been restored to their former glory, with new designs, new windows and fresh paintwork.

The Shopfront Scheme was funded by Historic England Heritage Action Zone.
