Wave, Harbourside and The Prom

Locals and visitors played their part in the creation of these £5 million+ investment plans, with the money being provided by the Government.

On The Prom

  • A promenade café on the site of the old toilet block
  • A new skatepark, designed in conjunction with local skater enthusiasts
  • New railings and landscaping, plus improved outdoor seating areas

  • A splash park for family fun
  • An outdoor events area, ideal for entertainment, festivals or markets
  • A rebuild of the Shiver Me Timbers play area with a pirate theme, chosen in a public vote

In the Wave, now renamed Maryport Activity Centre

  • A purpose-built adventure soft play park ideal for younger children
  • Improvements to Clip n’ Climb to appeal to a wider audience
  • The creation of multi-use rooms
  • Enhancements to the gym
  • A new name, chosen by local schoolchildren to better reflect the building’s use

Across the town

  • A wayfinding and public realm scheme to tie the town centre, harbourside and promenade together and link them with the station and car parks
  • New signage features work by Maryport artist Alan Roper with a subtle ‘M’ theme
