Proof of your medical fitness

You must be medically fit and have a good level of vision.

You must be medically fit and meet the DVLA Group 2 medical standards.

Medicals must be completed by a qualified and registered medical practitioner, who has access to your medical records.

You will need to download and complete the Medical examination report for a lorry or bus driving licence (D4) on GOV.UK.

The medical report is valid for 28 days from the issue date.

Renewal of your medical

A medical self-declaration will be required at each renewal until the age of 45 years.

If you are aged 45 years, and then every 5 years until your 65th birthday, you will need to complete a full Group 2 medical certificate.

At age 65 years and over, you will need to complete a full Group 2 medical certificate every year.

If your doctor (GP) or medical practitioner recommends more frequent medical examinations, you must do so.
