On the right track: A5086 Scallow Farm works

Road Patching

Cumberland Council is gearing up to inform residents and businesses about an upcoming road closure as part of the ongoing upgrades to the A5086 Scallow Farm.

The improvements are part of a £14.3 million Government-funded programme, which has already successfully completed work on other sections of the A595 and A5086

The work will be carried out by the council's contractor DSD Construction Limited, and will require a full road closure starting Monday 9 December, and is expected to last five days, weather permitting. Work will take place Monday to Friday, from 7.00am to 6.00pm, with no weekend work planned. Although work is carried out during these hours, the road will remain closed for the full duration.

The project will include essential road network repairs, drainage replacement, and refreshed road markings, ensuring a safer and smoother journey for all road users.

Vehicle access for residents and businesses will be maintained whenever possible, and specific access needs can be discussed with on-site staff. Full access will be available for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians, and dismounted cyclists throughout the works.

Waste and recycling collections will proceed as normal, while updates about temporary bus stop relocations will be posted at affected stops. Passengers with bus route questions are encouraged to contact Stagecoach directly.

Cumberland Council recognises the A5086 is a key route and is working closely with local stakeholders, including Parish Councils and local members, to minimise disruption as much as possible.

The council kindly asks for the community’s patience and co-operation, reminding everyone of its zero-tolerance policy regarding threatening or abusive behaviour.

Cumberland Council thanks the community for their continued support and patience as they work to improve the road network and apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.
